Innovation Panel Release

Added by Redmine Admin over 7 years ago

Data from waves 1 to 4 of the Understanding Society Innovation Panel http://data.understandingsociety.org.uk/documentation/innovation-panel are now available to download.

The panel is principally used to implement experiments and test questions, procedures and methods in a context that is similar to the main Understanding Society survey and other household panel surveys. With adults and young people from 1500 households it has a sample size sufficiently large to enable quantitative evaluation.

Four waves of data have been collected so far, and all are now available to download from the Economic and Social Data Service https://www.esds.ac.uk/findingData/snDescription.asp?sn=6849.

The first four waves of the panel included innovative studies aiming at improving survey processes, at reducing non-response, non-response bias and attrition, and examining statistical issues for data analysis. The panel survey is developed in part through an annual competition in which researchers can propose questions and experiments. The call for proposals is announced annually in spring.

The experiments and methodological tests that have been carried in waves 1 to 4 are described in the online User Manual. http://data.understandingsociety.org.uk/files/data/documentation/user-guides/Understanding-Society-IP-User-Guide.pdf

Wave 5 is currently in the field and includes the world's first testing of online vs face-to-face interviewing on an established face-to-face sample.

Further information including how to access the data, questionnaires, working papers, methodological research and experiments can be found on the Understanding Society website at www.understandingsociety.org.uk/design.
